JAMES BOND on Pattaya Beach – couldn’t stop the local mafia

Yesterday, while walking along the beach, I noticed the local city council putting up barriers just in front of Walking Street. Not only were they erecting these concrete boxes but at the same time they were painting them to give them this clean, all shiny, new look. Anyway on my return to the beach at about 10pm I noticed an eerie absence of Ladyboys and Ladies. The odd one had survived and was huddling in some shadow where she wouldn’t be spotted so easily. I presumed it must have been just the nightly 10 pm cleanup happened early and kept heading towards soi 8. Pickups with Katoeys and Beach hookers passed me and I remember thinking that today they are really cleaning up – the police coffers must be empty.

About an hour later a few of us were walking back towards Walking Street when we noticed a full force of Tourist Cops interspaced with Real Police all along the beach. This spread from soi 9 in drips and drabs all the way to just in front of Walking Street. Someone said it was some VIP or “Superstar” coming so we just ran with that story. On reaching the newly barricaded motorbike parking area at the front of Walking we seen a whole mob of these ‘Police’ all bunched up talking to each other. Some were even posing on Segways (usually too expensive for the local Tourist Police) so this must have been some big VIP.

Talking to a solid looking guy it was confirmed that they were here to do security for some VIP. Who, was not revealed to us and as we had been drinking the guy just said “come on fellas give us a break” we were sort of pesteriing about the identity of this VIP. Anyway, as was discovered by us later, the only VIP that we came into contact with that night was the bulky James Bond 007 (as can be seen on his badge) from America.

Being disappointed about the absence of any Very Important People besides us, I went home soon after. Woke up about 10 am a bit under the weather. Judging by the sms I was now reading but I had gotten the night before, Blacky got into a fight with some mafia guys (presumably in Walking Street) and felt that “he wasn’t so keen on Thailand at that moment”.
Well that’s Thailand you gotta love the place – even when you know where you going you will never get there.
By the way anyone know who that VIP was or even where my mate is? Haven't seen the VIP or him as yet.

Update seen my mate and it seems he was bashed in Walking street while a crowd was looking on (including some tourist police guys someone said). He did end up getting saved by a couple of Indians that took him out of harms way. Oh how I love Walking St with all the pimps, drugs and helpful 'men in blue'or in this case 'men in black'.

PATTAYA beach Road declared safe

PATTAYA beach road declared safe - A lot has been written about the electrical safety standards in Thailand. Seem this is totally over rated and just scare mongering by overzealous Farangs. All the loose (and live) wires poking out everywhere along beach road do not seem to be a hazard at all. Recently an electrical safety test was run by the local wildlife and protection agency (or so it seems) with the outcome that all electrical wiring on the the Pattaya beach is well above standard and does not pose any hazard to unsuspecting individuals at all. These tests were carried out right in front of our eyes right across from the police station on soi 9 (I suppose so that in case of damage a Farang could be arrested and charged with a fine to pay for the damage and include a bit of pension money as well). After some time of trial the electrical circuit were found to be intact and declared as posing no hazard and the subject that was doing the testing was released. pattayabeachbum.com

I now feel very safe walking along beach road knowing that I cant become a light bulb should I ever get caught in a situation where i have to crawl into one of the open electrical circuit boxes here on pattaya beach.
There are still the stiletto heels of some of the creatures of the night, the solemn stares of some of the 'shorttime shorttime' girls and the potholes that provide endless entertainment for some of the more simpler girls out to catch a farang at night but at least i will not get fried by electrical wires (that is if i was a rat - which incidentally I am).

PATTAYA BEACH flooded with plastic and other rubbish

Out on the beach last night, it was pretty cold - for us that have acclimatised anyway. Seems the boats dumping rubbish into the ocean have been busy. Wave activity gave us a bit of an insight into the clean waters of Thailand and also the government policy on environmentally responsible rubbish removal.
Where is Albert when one needs him - he'd have his job cut out on this lot

On a happier note it seems a lot of the pickpocketing nasty type ladyboys have been removed (for the time being anyway) by the local police.

PATTAYA Rain season has finally hit

The recent days have now made it painfully clear that the rain season has finally arrived in Pattaya. As much as the plants will love this most of us beach lurkers aren't impressed. Year after year we attempt to forget that the rainy season will come again. Walking on the beach (or at least on the beach walk) turns into slogging through filthy water and having waterlogged bodies, small cuts on the feet turning into foul smelling festering sores and last not least girls that are noticeable by their absence. Oh how I loathe rain season.

On a brighter side, the local police will probably also stay away from the beach - lest they want to get wet - and so the last remaining, toughened girls will finally be able to stay out all evening without having to enjoy the nightly ride to the police station on the back of a pickup.

DEAD Pattaya guy or What??

Not sure what to write about this one short of that as we walked along the beach we noticed this what seemed to be 'contored body' of a dead person. So we took a few photos and left the guy to be discovered by some local. On our return we were intrigued and actually prodded him a bit seems he was alive - sort of. Amazing how flexible we are when when we are drunk though

PATTAYA McDonalds own 'little kids foundation'

Seems that the McDonald's in Pattaya Walking street has started its own initiative to save streetkids from being exposed to the wild ways of the local nightlife by offering them a place to sleep at night and all under full protection of Mr Ronald McDonald himself. Good on yah. It seems the kiddy gangs that used to hang around here have given in to the new charitable venture.

Tough Teens Stopped with Weapon - Pattaya People

On Saturday just before dawn, the Pattaya Police Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Giatisak Sa-tong-oy were informed that 2 male teens on a motorcycle were spotted with a gun on one of them, heading from a drinking spot on Balihai Pier to the top of Pratamnak Hill.
The police managed to locate them at Yinyom Beach at the end of Soi Pratamnak 6, and the 2 teens, aged 17 were stopped for searching. A .32 revolver was found on one of them with a bullet in the gun, and both tested positive for drug use.
The teen who was carrying the gun claimed the gun belonged to his father, and he took it out the house without his father’s consent to protect himself, as he always drinks with his friends on school holidays. Further legal procedures were taken and the parents will be notified.
