WILD-WATER rafting in Pattaya – a new face for Pattaya once again

Once again Pattaya has proven it has a place amongst the world’s most innovative world travel destinations. Last night a few of us where down the beach, and radar believing individuals as we are, we were not at all concerned by the thunder or lightning. We knew the radar does not lie – well it bloody well did. It bucketed down. Far from being distraught or unhappy about it, I am actually glad it did.
The deluge that was released from the heavens made me, for the first time, become familiar with the term wild-water rafting in Pattaya. The Pattaya City Council being as foresightful as they are, and having fixed all the flood problems now, allowed me to be part of a very rare thing indeed – Niagara falls on the beach of Pattaya. Any adventure company would have gladly been a sponsor of the event and would have, I am sure, sold tickets for this by the hundreds.

As the pictures show this was really a lot of water, sadly I had no way of recording the smell of it all. Being a bum I am also just too lazy to put the video footage up on youtube to give you an idea of the noise it made as it was cutting its way through the little bit of beach we have here. Anyway, this was one of the rare occasion when the Pattaya sea water was actually clean in comparison and the safest environment to be in. The roads, footpaths and all surrounding areas were submerged by what appeared to be not the cleanest of all water in the district. The bottles, plastic bags and odd dead rat floating past didn’t really worry me but the turds were a little disturbing when they rubbed up against your legs. Anyway, all this stinking mess aside it was a spectacular sight to see. All along the Pattaya Klang part, a number of wild rivers of run-off were coming from the road, cutting wide gorges into the beach and then turning the ‘clean’ seawater into a mess of broiling sewerage where the rivers and the ocean mixed. Made me feel like I was being part of the creation of the world, present at some ritual to renew the face of Thailand (or at least Pattaya). Now, I have heard people call Pattaya a Sh…hole but I never quite made this connection.
On a side-note a dark blue hat was seen floating down towards Jomtien – I hope the wearer is still alive.

Previous to this deluge we noticed the local farang tourist police walking along the beach,  leaving the girls alone and just concentrating on the pickpocketing ladyboys and shining their torches all around what appeared to be Yabba dealing individuals. ‘Good on you guys’ – finally somebody is taking care of the real rats here in Pattaya.
A note to our beloved head of Pattaya Council – The Jetski scammers were busy again during the day as well.

PATTAYA sees the return to the dark ages

A photo from last night – the wild man from Borneo.
This creature seems to be a Farang of some denomination. The picture was taken as it was ambling towards the Russian market near Soi 10 - the one with the Shoping center sign above it.
He does have a nice smile so that’s pretty cool and I do like his wrap-around, just a pitty its not a girl.

As to returning to the dark ages, has anyone been to a particular establishment near the front of Walking Street lately?
Nice place just a shame about the toilets in there. Me, being a bloke, doesn’t really care so mush as I don’t have to get anywhere near the toilet seat to relieve myself, but pity the Russian ladies that frequent the joint. I hope that the staff have their private little toilet somewhere in between churning out hamburgers.
The whole toilet was just covered in Pee (hard to see in the photo), it was all over the floor and presumably all over the walls, doorhandle etc. I could go on about the pigs that did this but I suppose it is really up to the management to get someone to clean it. Makes you wonder if peeing on the beach (straight into the water) is not a better option after all. It does carry a fine I am told and one may get hit over the head from behind though. :)
The picture doesn't really show the extent of the discoloration all over the toilet.

JAMES BOND on Pattaya Beach – couldn’t stop the local mafia

Yesterday, while walking along the beach, I noticed the local city council putting up barriers just in front of Walking Street. Not only were they erecting these concrete boxes but at the same time they were painting them to give them this clean, all shiny, new look. Anyway on my return to the beach at about 10pm I noticed an eerie absence of Ladyboys and Ladies. The odd one had survived and was huddling in some shadow where she wouldn’t be spotted so easily. I presumed it must have been just the nightly 10 pm cleanup happened early and kept heading towards soi 8. Pickups with Katoeys and Beach hookers passed me and I remember thinking that today they are really cleaning up – the police coffers must be empty.

About an hour later a few of us were walking back towards Walking Street when we noticed a full force of Tourist Cops interspaced with Real Police all along the beach. This spread from soi 9 in drips and drabs all the way to just in front of Walking Street. Someone said it was some VIP or “Superstar” coming so we just ran with that story. On reaching the newly barricaded motorbike parking area at the front of Walking we seen a whole mob of these ‘Police’ all bunched up talking to each other. Some were even posing on Segways (usually too expensive for the local Tourist Police) so this must have been some big VIP.

Talking to a solid looking guy it was confirmed that they were here to do security for some VIP. Who, was not revealed to us and as we had been drinking the guy just said “come on fellas give us a break” we were sort of pesteriing about the identity of this VIP. Anyway, as was discovered by us later, the only VIP that we came into contact with that night was the bulky James Bond 007 (as can be seen on his badge) from America.

Being disappointed about the absence of any Very Important People besides us, I went home soon after. Woke up about 10 am a bit under the weather. Judging by the sms I was now reading but I had gotten the night before, Blacky got into a fight with some mafia guys (presumably in Walking Street) and felt that “he wasn’t so keen on Thailand at that moment”.
Well that’s Thailand you gotta love the place – even when you know where you going you will never get there.
By the way anyone know who that VIP was or even where my mate is? Haven't seen the VIP or him as yet.

Update seen my mate and it seems he was bashed in Walking street while a crowd was looking on (including some tourist police guys someone said). He did end up getting saved by a couple of Indians that took him out of harms way. Oh how I love Walking St with all the pimps, drugs and helpful 'men in blue'or in this case 'men in black'.

PATTAYA Rain season has finally hit

The recent days have now made it painfully clear that the rain season has finally arrived in Pattaya. As much as the plants will love this most of us beach lurkers aren't impressed. Year after year we attempt to forget that the rainy season will come again. Walking on the beach (or at least on the beach walk) turns into slogging through filthy water and having waterlogged bodies, small cuts on the feet turning into foul smelling festering sores and last not least girls that are noticeable by their absence. Oh how I loathe rain season.

On a brighter side, the local police will probably also stay away from the beach - lest they want to get wet - and so the last remaining, toughened girls will finally be able to stay out all evening without having to enjoy the nightly ride to the police station on the back of a pickup.

DEAD Pattaya guy or What??

Not sure what to write about this one short of that as we walked along the beach we noticed this what seemed to be 'contored body' of a dead person. So we took a few photos and left the guy to be discovered by some local. On our return we were intrigued and actually prodded him a bit seems he was alive - sort of. Amazing how flexible we are when when we are drunk though

PATTAYA McDonalds own 'little kids foundation'

Seems that the McDonald's in Pattaya Walking street has started its own initiative to save streetkids from being exposed to the wild ways of the local nightlife by offering them a place to sleep at night and all under full protection of Mr Ronald McDonald himself. Good on yah. It seems the kiddy gangs that used to hang around here have given in to the new charitable venture.

THE FROG PRINCE in Pattaya survives yet another day

The world seems to be full of stories about young girls who help frogs who then turn out to be princes.Well I don't quite think this story qualifies as one of those as it is set here in Pattaya and most of the girls in Pattaya would rather eat the frog then help it in any way.

I presume they have never heard of the frog prince story so they rather deep-fry it together with a couple of grasshoppers and enjoy the instant gains of having a full belly. In this case it seems none of the above applies. Through a stroke of luck the frog in the below picture survived not only being kicked and almost run over by the cars on Pattaya Beach road but also the ever hungry (or so it seems as they always seem to be asking for 20 baht for food) Thai ladies on beach road. I have seen Farangs that didn't achieve this state of longevity in Pattaya so how the little frog did it I am not sure. Anyway it was seen hopping towards Walking Street only a couple of days ago.

Good luck to you Buddy sadly I think it likely that the skulk of ladyboys down that way will be the end of you :)

LADYBOY joy in Pattaya

Look at the silicon bum on that ladyboy, must have cost some farang idiot a fortune
Look at this ladyboy - I dont really go for ladyboys at all but look at the silicone bum on that thing. It was walking towards Mixx disco with a farang guy and what appeared to be a farang lady (look at here small bum compared to the katoeys appendage). Talking about these in between creatures and bloody annoying thing happened last night as well.
While walking home along beach road a number of ladyboys approached me (in the area just between Royal garden and the 7/11 near walking street - where the little round benches are) and started shouting at me. Knowing I am not the most handsome guy (although not all that bad) I presumed they where just upset at me not wanting to go with them (or even wanting to talk to them) but lo and behold it started to get worse for no reason. May be because they are such ugly creatures in that area they had no customer for a while or couldn't even pickpocket a couple of farang that day Anyway, some of them took their high heeled shoes off and were about to turn my face into a swiss cheese. Luckily for me some old Thai lady came along and told them to leave me alone I was an alright guy and had not done anything. Good luck for me ... and thank you old lady. As much as the ladyboys here are stuffed up some of the thai people are genuinely nice. The tourist police aren't any help as they seem to be into picking on farangs and hookers (to get some freebies I suppose and have been told) but they leave the Yabba dealers and pick pocketing A-hole ladyboys alone. What a place to be - I love it. Corruption and injustice rulez forever. When I grow up I wanna become a tourist police guy and be able to get freebies.
